Objective:

Learners will determine how story maps can be used to support the development of multimedia presentations for a variety of presentation formats.

  1. Develop a list of the different types of multimedia presentations students might develop (fiction, documentaries, etc.)
  2. Classify them according to the categories suggested.
  3. Develop a story-map template, using the software of your choice, that could be used for non-narrative presentations.
Additional examples are listed on the module resource webpage:
    http://resources.emints.org/modresources/links/multimediamaps.shtml (username and password required)
  4. Consider how you might use story maps as a scaffold for non-narrative multimedia presentations. Think about the following questions:
    • What benefits might result from using story maps for non-narrative presentations? What challenges?
    • How can multimedia convey information about events or topics in various content areas that cannot be communicated in traditional forms?
    • How can story form be used in content areas to enhance the understanding of content area topics?
